Caroline Gifty Tsikata, 39, a devoted member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), is being detained by the Akasti South Police in the Volta Region for allegedly scamming some party members.

The suspect, a mother of two who resides in Tema Community 25, was taken into custody by some NDC Constituency Executives in Akatsi South on Wednesday. This was done in response to a tip that came from Samuel K. Adabla, the Volta Regional Chairman of the United Cadres Front (UCF), a group connected to the NDC, regarding the suspect’s alleged impersonation and fraudulent acts.

She acknowledged roaming across the many Volta constituencies, such as Akatsi South, Kpando, Keta, South Tongu, Ho, and others for her alleged financial deals, during police questioning.

In addition, she acknowledged that she had taken an undisclosed sum of money from gullible NDC members with the intention of giving them all kinds of financial support.

Akatsi instructor John Atigode and Zigah Kofi Felix were two of her victims who said that the suspect had taken GHC2400 and GHC1600 from them, respectively.

The suspect, a mother of two, was pretending to be the regional coordinator for the Young Cadres Front (YCF) of the UCF, Volta, according to a statement submitted by the UCF Chairman to the police.

“UCF Volta wishes to state explicitly that Madam Caroline Gifty Tsikata who is parading herself as such is not the Regional Coordinator for the Young Cadres Front and should therefore be treated as an imposter’’ the statement added.

According to the statement, the UCF Volta has not designated the suspect to operate in any position on its behalf to raise money or sell any kind of property in order to provide financial support to anybody.

Meanwhile, the suspect is expected to appear before the court today.
